Dryandra Regional Equestrian Association held their annual horse trials event at Cuballing on the 25th and 26th June with two days of top level competition..
The weather was clear, but extremely cold with some sub 0 temperatures experienced by those camping. The event attracted 207 entries across 7 grades who travelled to Cuballing from around the state, from as far reaching as Esperance, Bunbury and Perth..
Local equestrian club members also competed, including: Roxie Taylor from York, Chloe Edwards from Kewda, Sarah Haynes from Cuballing, Courtney Perkins and Katrina Reynolds from Narrogin and Emily Gray from Kukerin. |
Saturday saw the start of the event with the dressage phase which made use of the newly constructed 70m x 70m fenced all purpose arena. The arena was recently completed by the Shire of Cuballing with funding from Department of Sport and Recreation.
Show jumping ran over both days in the indoor arena with courses constructed by designer, Fred Freeman.
The cross country course was well designed by Philip Bailey, with some good technical questions to challenge the riders and their horses. This popular phase sees many spectators who gather at the water complex to enjoy the thrills and spills of the phase. |
