The Gidgegannup Dressage Club Competition

Gidgegannup Dressage Club
Competition

The Gidgegannup Dressage Club held its popular, annual competition on
Sunday the 28 March at the Gidgegannup Showgrounds.

For the first time this event incorporated a Masters Series competition and attracted nearly 100 riders from across the state, riding 150 tests from Preliminary Level through to Prix St George for both Participant and Competitor Equestrian Australia members.

Blessed with sunshine from early morning, three competition arenas were beautifully arranged on the main oval of the Gidgegannup Showgrounds, which was surrounded by some of the sponsor’s trade stands. All day, the verandahs and viewing areas were abuzz with riders, supporters and spectators alike.

Attracting some of Western Australia’s most respected officials, as well as visiting Victorian A-Level Judge Judy Peel, spectators were treated to high class competition throughout all levels.

The day’s top class, the Prix St George was won by Karen Spice, riding Tudor Expectations, with second going to Astric Grov on Mirrinyin Di Lilly, followed by Melissa Emery on Calcarra Bonbonniere and Wendy Barker, riding Ellis Brook Hermes.

First in the Advanced Level went to Gillian Wibberley on Triplicate, followed closely by Astric Grov on Mirrinyin Di Lilly and Wendy Cumming on JB Jamieson.

The Preliminary to Medium levels were all hotly contested and saw some outstanding horses and riding in all classes, including three especially offered for Pony competitors.

Once again, the Gidgegannup Dressage Club Competition was a fantastic event, supported by a hardworking committee, the club’s members, organisers, supporters and sponsors.
